Poor White People Hilariously Predict American Communism
They've been the butt of all the jokes, but the trailer park may have the last laugh.
Dear reader, should drinking and driving be legal?

On average, impaired driving kills 37 people daily on American roadways.
Therefore, we citizens collectively agree that drinking and driving should be illegal, and offenders should face steep penalties and fines.
And, of course, anyone who kills or maims another driving while impaired should be imprisoned.
Today, drinking and driving is not only illegal but socially taboo.
That’s why we’ve been laughing at these folks for years.
Here’s a transcript:
“It’s kinda gettin’ communist when a feller can’t put in a hard day’s work, put in 11-12 hours a day, then get in your truck and at least drink one or two beers.”
And:
“They’re makin’ it laws when you can’t drink when you want to, you have to wear a seatbelt when you’re driving, pretty soon we’re gonna be a communist country.”
People have been laughing at these folks for years, myself included.
Yet here we are.
Here’s how drinking and driving laws are straight out of the communist playbook.
How it Works

We’re not a communist country, but we’re closer than ever as we continue to push socialist ideals.
Modern-day America would be unrecognizable to the Founding Fathers, but we didn’t lose our freedoms overnight.
We’re frogs sitting in a boiling pot of water that’s been turned up one degree at a time over 248 years.
First, find a public issue that impacts everyone.

For the Russians, communism was born out of the unfair treatment of workers.
In China, the government played on the woes of the peasantry.
Today, the American government promises safety and, more recently, inclusion.
Indeed, there’s much debate over the differences between communism and socialism we could go on about.
But as George Bernard Shaw once said, “Socialism is the same as Communism, only better English.”
Second, exploit the issue for votes and support.

Politicians campaign by promising to enact laws to stop road fatalities while getting support from advocacy groups such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD.)
Third, continue to remove freedoms from offenders and generate money for the state via fines and citations while the original issue persists, and mock anyone who notices.
Through the Transportation Equity for the 21st Century Act, the federal government funds states that enact open container laws, and municipalities collect funding from citations and fines.
But wait a minute.
We agree that drinking and driving is wrong because it kills people.
There are laws against abusing children, kidnapping, and murder- are those “bricks in the road to communism,” too?
Of course not.
Murder and rape are defined based on morality.
The term “drinking and driving” is vague.
So I’ll ask again: should drinking and driving be illegal?
Yes.
Should drunk driving be illegal?
No.
Communism pro tip: Base laws on ambiguous terms.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) laws, which differ by state, have been in effect since 1906, starting in New Jersey.
Other states followed soon after.
The new “DUI laws” the fine Americans in the video above were reacting to was banning the literal act of drinking a beer while driving.
Not driving impaired.
Between 1906 and the 1980s, while it was illegal to drive drunk, it was perfectly legal to drive while drinking a beer in many parts of the country.
And even in 2024, it’s still legal for passengers to enjoy a cold one on the way to the grocery store in states like Alaska, Mississippi, and Missouri.
So what happened?
More government happened.

The working-class American who just wanted to enjoy a beer or two on his way home after a 12-hour shift probably did so for years without being impaired.
And his dad probably did the same.
Yet it was still legal for that man to drink his beer and then drive home, provided his blood-alcohol content remained under .08%, as it is today.
Why?
Some argue that allowing one to drink a beer while driving, even if below the limit, is gateway behavior that may lead drivers to drink several.
Yet the type of people who can't control their drinking in the car probably can’t control their drinking outside of the vehicle.
That’s why over 10,000 Americans die in drunk driving accidents annually, even with all the laws on the books.
Still, DUI fatalities have been on the decline since they started recording the stats in 1982.

However, several things are at play, such as improving vehicle safety features, increased public transportation, younger people driving less, and overall education on the dangers of driving while impaired.
We can also attribute the success of open-container laws to most people not caring.
If it just saves one life, then who cares? I’ll drink my beer when I get home.
And the stove turns up one degree.
Here we are in 2024, with more laws and taxes than ever, yet in the most vulnerable position in modern history.
We support creating new laws, hoping to resolve problems.
But we must distinguish between necessary laws and the government playing on people’s emotions for power and money.
Drinking and driving is just one example.
The same thing happened with running a business, public surveillance, and guns.
If we do lose our country to communism, hopefully, the folks in the trailer parks will be nice enough to grill our crow.

Hey now I can have a cold one while Carl drives! Lol I didn't know that about MO.
