Michiganders Heckle Obama During Whitmer Campaign Speech
44's in the Hot Seat as the Political Pendulum Swings
The most severe crime Obama committed was wearing a tan suit.
At least, that’s been the running theme.
But lately, more people find the 44th president might be guilty of more than fashion felonies.
On Saturday evening, Obama spoke in Detroit in hopes of sweet-talking voters into re-electing Governor Whitmer.
During the speech, Obama addressed the Paul Pelosi situation, using the incident to explain why we must “explicitly reject dangerous rhetoric” in political discourse.
That’s when someone from the crowd yelled: "Mr. President! There’s more people that are going to get hurt if we go into nuclear war!"
The heckler added, "Right now, we’re on the verge of nuclear war thanks to what you did in Ukraine in 2014.”
Obama replied,
"This is what I mean, I mean, we’re having a conversation — sir, this is what I’m saying. Look, we’ve got a — there’s a process that we set up in our democracy, right now I’m talking, you’ll have a chance to talk sometime soon."
Yeah, right.
The man returned with:
"Yeah but we’re on the verge of nuclear war." "Do you care about the lives of your supporters?"
"Will you tell the truth before the world walks into world war?"
Someone else contributed:
"You overthrew Ukraine in 2014."
"You overthrew the legitimate Ukraine in 2014. Tell us about your plans for nuclear war with Russia," she shouted.
Soon after, security escorted the hecklers away.
What Was That All About, Anyway?
Some say the Ukraine conflict directly results from American interference between Ukrainian and Russian power struggles over recent years.
Such as Putin.
I haven’t studied this much, but it’s worth looking into because Obama admitted openly to at least assisting in the transition of power in 2014.
In a 2015 interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Obama said:
…and since Mr. Putin made this decision around Crimea and Ukraine — not because of some grand strategy, but essentially because he was caught off-balance by the protests in the Maidan and Yanukovych then fleeing after we had brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine…” -President Barack Obama
It’s hard enough to know what to believe with American mainstream media, let alone international outlets.
But more people are comfortable questioning Obama as time passes and people make connections between an escalating war and decisions made during Obama’s service.
And Obama wasn’t without other faults.
For example, in 2015, the Obama administration inadvertently targeted a wedding party with a drone strike in Yemen, killing 12 people in December 2013.
To be fair, we should note that the Trump administration also bombed a wedding in 2019, killing 40.
When an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at President Bush, it came as little surprise because Dubya deserved the podiatric projectiles after leading us into a twenty-year war that yielded countless deaths and the Patriot Act.
Yet, after all, I’m sure all US presidents took actions that killed innocent bystanders at one time or another.
But how interesting it is to see the media and politicians spin these stories differently depending on who’s in the White House.
Blue City Fears
Seeing more open criticism of Obama is a strong sign of changing political tides.
Throughout Obama’s presidency and surrounding years, questioning the administration was a good way to be labeled a racist.
But as Obama and his former sidekick continue to cause more problems for everyday people with a poor economy, failed social policies, and an escalating war in Ukraine, more people are willing to challenge popular beliefs, as we saw in the Motor City on Saturday.
Yet even if the northerners welcomed Obama with open arms, his mere presence indicates further proof of shifting politics in the US.
Bringing out Obama last minute before the midterm elections suggests the left is in panic mode, trying to salvage what votes they can.
Actor Jason Bateman even proposed Biden use the emergency broadcast system to urge people to vote blue.
Which is sad, because it makes it harder to enjoy Ozark when I know Bateman’s on board with this stuff.
Anyway.
Redwave Inbound
All of the leftist policies that led us through lockdowns, vaccine requirements, isolating children, a tanking economy, social divide, et cetera-has people paying extra attention this year.
And everyday people are tired of going along with popular ideas that the Democrats are the best bet, including Obama, who’s often considered untouchable.
Instead, people will vote for issues that impact their daily lives, such as their pocketbooks.
And the left knows it.
That’s why these high-ranking Democrats are campaigning in areas that traditionally vote blue.
In other last-ditch efforts, Biden shuffled to New Mexico to campaign for Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham yesterday, and Hillary Clinton did the same thing for Governor Hochul in New York.
I’m not sure if that helps or hinders Democratic outcomes, but it’s not looking good for the left.
As Joe Rogan said, voting booths this year will look like the elevators in The Shining on November 8th.
And I don't think any last-minute campaigning will change many minds, even when they send in their number one guy.
But as favorable as the polls may be, we can’t afford to get too comfortable until we see results.
So be sure to get out and vote before Tuesday, and let’s make this red wave a reality.
