Even you, Brutus?
The police live in the doghouse while these unsuspecting first responders get away with murder. Plus, get your Thin White Line bumper sticker today!
Last week, we talked about toddler man Allen Ganter, the Meriden, Connecticut cop who punched a civilian in the face during a road rage incident and then lied to officers when questioned.
The moral of the story is: don’t blindly support law enforcement because they don’t blindly support you.
However, in the first responder community, the police are constantly criticized, while we assume firefighters and paramedics can do no harm.
But after a closer look, fire and medical personnel could be the biggest dirtbags on your local municipal payroll.
Bad Apples
When a cop is caught on video punching a civilian in the face, it’s national news.
When the police shoot someone, even when lawful, it’s a front-page story. As long as the cop is white and the suspect is black, at least.
But the media minimizes cases of firefighters and paramedics breaking the law since they don’t typically support political narratives. Aside from the whole hosing down black people during the ‘60s thing, anyway.
But here are a few stories you might’ve missed:
In 2019, a Baltimore firefighter was arrested for using spare department keys to burglarize firehouses all over the city, stealing cash from lockers and chainsaws off fire trucks.
Last year, a New York City firefighter responded to a call where a man died in his apartment. While processing the scene, the hero stole the decedent’s credit card and went on a $1,000 shopping spree.
Last month, an FDNY lieutenant was arrested for strangling an EMT on a call in Brooklyn.
We might write these off as isolated incidents among large departments, but firehouse brass is just as capable of systemic corruption as the dirtiest of cop shops.
Spoiled Bunches
Fire departments enjoy more power than you might realize.
If you own a business, you know they can shut you down for failing inspections, posting invalid permits, or hosting too many people.
Of course, like police business, most fire department-to-merchant interactions are cut and dry. But there’s always room for corruption when dealing with government red tape, be it federal or local:
In 2016, a Boston Fire Department District Chief was found guilty of fraud after lining his pockets with over $30,000 of taxpayer dollars.
Last year, federal investigators arrested two DC Fire and EMS employees for contract bribery.
Last month, investigators searched two FDNY fire chiefs’ homes after allegations surfaced of the department taking bribes to expedite safety inspections.
And who knows how many fire departments have been on the mafia payroll over the years?
But the ethical perversion turns up a degree in New York, where recently, a video emerged of firefighters booing corrupt Attorney General Leticia James at a promotion ceremony.
As James attempted to quell the crowd, the boos evolved into Trump chants.
It's refreshing to see low-ranking personnel using their First Amendment right to protest a high-ranking sexist and racist official who promised to target the Trump administration for “being too male, too pale, and too stale.”
As the clip ignited the internet, fire unions attempted to extinguish the dissent by threatening to “hunt down” protesters like KGB agents, sending the below email to firehouses involved in the event:
FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, a woman who has never fought a fire in her life, apologized to James for being subjected to criticism for being a crooked political activist.
Officials argued that our pesky First Amendment wasn’t welcome at such ceremonies because it happened on the city time clock. They much prefer you save your opinions for social media, where they can be properly censored.
If fire department leaders don’t have their teams back in safety, how can they expect to have support at a burning building?
Many of those buildings are aflame because of the extreme leftist leadership that Leticia James represents and directly facilitates. It’s not a coincidence that the above offenses perpetrated by fire personnel are in her backyard or other Democrat-run cities.
It was OK for CA Representative Maxine Waters to encourage Democrat voters to harass the Trump administration.
But a few boos and chants from people suffering from insane inflation, skyrocketing crime, and a criminal border invasion is a bridge too far.
Remember The Thin White Line?
To wrap up this whole first responder corruption kick, let me say I understand the thin blue, red, and green lines are reserved for first responders and service members who do the job with integrity and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
(Fun fact: there’s a “thin brown line” for trade workers, which should have been reserved for sewage workers, in my opinion.)
Those who take dangerous jobs to uphold the US Constitution for low pay deserve recognition, and I applaud the brave firefighters who risked their careers by peacefully protesting.
And I have nothing but respect for the law enforcement agencies, individual officers, and deputies who refuse to enforce unconstitutional laws.
Unfortunately, too many first responders will break the law when they think no one’s looking and trample our rights when ordered.
It’s time to get back to the thin white line that represents everyday Americans getting screwed daily.
The ones who are supposed to have power in this country.
So go ahead and throw a dollar in the donation boot or thank a cop for their service.
But don’t be a naive Nancy. Some of these people would take your wallet from your dead body, steal your tax dollars, or punch you in the face at a red light, given the opportunity.
Hold the white line, and the rest will follow.
