California Cult Denounces Investigation After Local Baker Senselessly Killed
Soft On Crime Attitudes Allow Recidivism To Run Wild

It was a bitterly cold winter in New York City in 1963.
And from the frozen concrete jungle, John and Michelle Phillips dreamed of California’s beaches and sunshine.
So they wrote a song about it.
A couple of years later, their band “The Mamas and the Papas” released the future hit, California Dreamin’.
It now serves as perhaps the most iconic song of the Laurel Canyon sound that permeated the nation during the 1960s hippie movement.
During the birth of the counterculture, people flocked to the west from all corners of the nation in search of freedom, happiness, and the meaning of life.
Also, many just wanted to live a life free of responsibility and do drugs all day.
But on its face, the counterculture represented civil rights and basic freedoms and believed the government was responsible for caring for people.
As people settled in the Golden State, they supported democrats and their liberal policies.
Then those hippies had kids. At least some of them did.
Then those kids had kids.
And with each iteration, the state delved farther left.
What started as basic liberal ideas evolved into extreme wokeness policy.
Now, many parts of the democratic stronghold are in shambles as the economy degrades and crime rates rise.
Still, communities aren’t destroyed by politicians alone.
They need help from the people.
While some leftists might abandon their anti-police beliefs and call 911 when victimized, others are committed to the wokeness.
And when people don’t seek justice for the senseless death of their loved ones and advocate to free offenders, that’s cultist behavior.
That’s exactly what happened earlier this month when criminals killed a local baker during the commission of a crime.
Is this what the hippies wanted?
Woke Bakery
In 2008, Jen Angel opened a small-batch cupcake shop in Oakland, California.
She didn’t attend formal training but gained experience by learning from her mother over the years.
And she appears highly skilled based on reviews and photos from her website.
But life wasn’t always confectionary for this Ohio native.
Before opening Angel Cakes, Jen worked in independent media as an editor for Clamor magazine.
Over the years, she became affiliated with an anarchist organization called “Agency” and was an organizer for the Bay Area Anarchist Book Fair.
According to a Democracy Now article, “Jen Angel was actively involved in antiwar and anti-capitalist struggles through the years, including Occupy Wall Street.”
She believed the criminal justice system, in general, didn’t work and only made things worse for the community.
Instead of traditional channels, Jen supported alternative policing and “Restorative Justice,” which is basically mediation between offenders and victims.
From The San Fransisco Chronicle regarding “Restorative Justice”
…Instead, it can mean many things, including opening a dialogue with the perpetrators so they can listen to the stories of loss and suffering in the community and understand what a profoundly beautiful life was lost as a consequence of their actions. - Sarah Shourd, SF Chronicle
And local vandals tested the anarchist baker multiple times before.
After someone threw a brick through the Angel Cakes storefront window costing $1200 in damage, and a car crashed into her lobby on a separate occasion, she did not ask the police for help.

Instead, she called on the community for support and chalked the violence up to an increasing volume of mental health.
Unfortunately, she had another incident with local criminals earlier this month.
It would be her last.
Assault
As Jen seemingly handled her daily entrepreneurial duties at a local Wells Fargo branch, on February 6th, she became the victim of a rising criminal trend in the Oakland area.
According to The San Fransisco Chronicle, Jen tried leaving the bank in downtown Oakland when a car blocked her in, and several robbers smashed her window and took her purse.
Reports say the victim ran after the fleeing vehicle and got caught in the car door as it drove away, dragging her for more than 50 feet.
Jen sustained multiple traumatic head injuries and was taken to a hospital, where doctors placed her in a medically induced coma.
Three days later, medical staff attempted to see if she could breathe on her own, which failed twice.
Jen was officially declared brain-dead and was ultimately removed from life support.
She died at 5:48 PM Thursday, 2/9.
Community Reaction
Have the police caught anyone yet?
Not as far as I can tell, although investigators apparently know the identities of those responsible.
But those close to Jen aren’t constantly calling for updates like many crime victims.
On the contrary, those close to the fallen patissier say the best way to honor her life is not to seek to arrest the robbers, given her political beliefs.
In fact, they said should the police make an arrest, they would do everything they could to get the criminals out of jail.
I don’t mean disrespect to those passed on or the family, but this is a cult.
And these soft-on-crime attitudes fuel the fire of criminal recidivism that endangers others.
Shortly after the incident, another citizen commented that she had a similar experience with local criminals as “smash and grab” thefts continue to rise.
Dream On, California

This is a tragic story, and I feel bad for everyone involved.
We know Jen Angel and I wouldn’t agree on much.
But we could agree the criminal justice system needs serious help and that mental health and drug issues are out of hand.
Yet it should be clear to everyone that leftist policies don’t help.
Even if you did engage in “restorative justice,” criminals will just go along to appease the system and return to their street crime.
It might be good for some juvenile offenders but not adult career criminals.
Can you imagine losing a loved one to a crime only to find they should have been in prison?
And this wasn’t a fluke case.
Also, in Oakland, a 71-year-old mail carrier was killed recently by a repeat offender that should have been behind bars.
And it’s not just California.
Recently a Florida rapper killed his pregnant wife. He was acquitted of double murder just weeks before.
And CNN ignores politicians victimized by crime until a Democrat is assaulted at her home in DC.
It’s a shame, but some people must be locked up, despite liberals’ reasoning for why people turn to crime.
There’s no progress in these democrat-heavy communities.
And this isn’t what The Mamas and the Papas had in mind as they wrote a Grammy Hall of Famer in that New York apartment years ago.
